Wanted: Pirates for Panto Launch

Local schoolchildren have been invited to participate at the launch of Weston-super-Mare’s professional pantomime Peter Pan on Tuesday 5th August.
Each year, the venue brings its all star casts to town for a taster session, giving the local media, group bookers and hoteliers the opportunity to find out more about the forthcoming festive production.
However, following earlier announcements of the cast, pantomime producers Paul Holman Associates will be putting people in the festive spirit in August this year as principal cast members don their costumes and get into the pantomime spirit.
General Manager of The Playhouse Theatre, Peter Undery, explained: “This year we have been able to cast our pantomime earlier than ever, so we have chosen to hold the launch for Peter Pan in August, as it allows local children to participate during their summer holidays.
“Children love Christmas and pantomime, so we want to give them the chance to join in. We would like youngsters to dress up as a character from Peter Pan and then one of the stars from the pantomime will present prizes for the best dressed boy and girl. Peter Pan is a great story, with lots of colourful characters ranging from Captain Hook and the pirates, to Tinkerbell, a Mermaid, Indians, a ticking crocodile, the Darling family and the lost boys, so those wishing to enter into the panto spirit by dressing up have lots of options.”
The Peter Pan launch takes place on stage at The Playhouse Theatre in High Street and starts at 1pm. During the launch, the actors, who will be in costume, join the producers on stage to demonstrate their talents and provide a glimpse of panto magic as they explain to the audience the character they will be playing in the production. Entry to this event is free.
This year’s spectacular Playhouse pantomime stars The Utterly Brilliant children’s presenter Timmy Mallett as comedy character Smee, David Griffin from popular sit-coms Hi-de-Hi and Keeping Up Appearances as Captain Hook and CBeebies’ Nicole Davis as Tinkerbell. They will be joined by a full supporting cast including David Carboni as Peter Pan,
